We made a half-day excursion to Pisa so that four of us could go up the tower in pairs. Ryan's too young to claim to be the minimum age (eight) allowed to enter, but he cooperatively made the trip and, sort of, cooperatively tried to correct Luke's age for the guard taking tickets.
It really leans! Kiera and I took several pictures at the top to try to demonstrate the lean, but it doesn't really show in the pictures. If you squint at the bottom of the bell behind Kiera, you might agree that the clapper is parallel to her but the rest of it is not perpendicular to them?! Yeah, it's subtle at best in the pictures. We trained back to Florence, got our daily gelato, and took a picture of what Ryan looks like immediately after he gets his daily gelato. The last picture is from a run I had gotten in before everyone else woke up for our Pisa excursion. It's from in front of a bronze David replica in Piazzale Michelangelo. This is actually my second trip to Florence, and I ran to the same place twenty-six years ago when I was on vacation with my parents and sister.
