We landed in Venice on the morning of 6/24! I used to have a lot of swagger about New Yorkers’ pedestrian capability, but then we moved our bags through Venice by foot.
The boys and Simone stayed in our AirBnB while Kiera and I joined a secret passageways tour of the Doge’s Palace. I’d been excited for Kiera’s first pre-scouted international site seeing! We’d put on a Rick Steves video about Venice a couple months earlier, and she started calling out things from the opening credits. It was actually when she saw the Doge’s Palace (and told me what it was) that I realized she should plan some of our in-city itineraries.
Anyway, this tour was really interesting, from how Venice ran its republic to Casanova’s lore. It was a mix of jail cells and bureaucratic offices before letting us out in the grand public rooms. We started appreciating how large the space was maybe half an hour before we finally succeeded in finding our way out through the armory.

Love it ,can’t wait to see you all in Prague 🤗
