Hi, it’s Kiera! (I want to apologize about the delay for my other blogs, but I’m not allowed to because I apologized in the other two blogs and I’ll try to make this quicker and maybe shorter.)
So today, July 7th, we’re heading to the airport in Naples and leaving Italy on our journey to Paris, France. This blog will mostly be a reflection of what we did in Italy, instead of our first day in Paris, because we decided that the last day of a country doesn’t have anything that interesting to write about, so they get do a reflection of the place, but I will also include my favorite details of today.
Top three favorite meals
- Storico 8 in Sorrento
- Restaurant in Vatican City (we didn’t see the name)
- The Central Market pasta in Florence
Top best Gelatos/Gelato places
- Gioletti in Rome
- Suzo in Venice
- Luke’s favorite: Nutella in Venice
- Ryan’s favorite: Oreo in Florence
All the cool/fun historical sites we went to
- Michelangelo’s David and all the Accademia gallery in Florence
- the Rome catacombs
- the Colosseum
- Mount Vesuvius and Pompei
- the Leaning tower of Pisa
- the Trevi fountain
- the Pantheon
- the Domus Aurea
- St. Peter’s in Vatican City
- St. Marc’s basilica in Venice
- The Uffizi gallery in Florence
I’m kind of bad at reflections so I’ll just write my favorite moments of the day now.
1. I really want everyone to know that almost right after my parents told us that we had to behave much better in France than in Italy because we (Luke and Ryan) had behaved bad and in Italy they were okay with any behavior from kids, they thought it was cute and in France everyone, even parents, had a lot less tolerance for craziness, Luke got us stuck in the airport because of his behavior. We waited in the taxi line and when we were the only people in the line for like half an hour Luke was just standing there telling us how much our butts stank and slapping them. But for some reason he didn’t get into trouble.
2. After we settled into the AirBnB, we went to a crepérie and I looked at the menu. The first thing my eyes rested on was the Little Breizh, a dessert crepe. I asked my mom for it for dinner because it sounded really yummy and, really surprisingly, she actually considered it. She probably checked what it was only when she saw how shocked I looked.
Souvenirs we bought so far
Each of the kids got one hundred dollars from relatives so we could buy a lot of souvenirs but we can also lose euros by behaving badly. The grown-ups have unlimited money though. This is what we got in Italy in order:
Luke: 29 euro small Murano glass bull in Venice
Ryan: 10 euro (but my mom bought it for eight) small gold Murano glass elephant in Venice
My mom: floral circular pink Murano glass earrings in Venice (I didn’t add the price because it doesn’t matter for her) (I didn’t buy anything in Venice even though I was the one that chose it because the masks we made were kind of like souvenirs)
